Join us in cleaning the shoreline in Astoria Park at the
Seventh Annual Shoreline Cleanup!

Saturday, October 1, 2011
Time: 10:30am to 1pm

Meet just south of the War Memorial on Shore Blvd
(Between Ditmars Blvd and Astoria Park South)

All are welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers are urged to wear old clothes and sturdy shoes or boots (sandals are not allowed).

The Shoreline Cleanup is in conjunction with the American Littoral Society’s International Cleanup Day.

Our partners in the cleanup are the Astoria Park Alliance, Partnerships for Parks and the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.

The Shoreline Cleanup is will take place shine or drizzle but will
be canceled in the event of heavy rain.

A Waterfront Vision was created for the community and by the community with Green Shores NYC & The Trust for Public Land. Hundreds of Western Queens residents came together in the summer and fall of 2010 to participate in seven neighborhood listening sessions and two area-wide brainstorming sessions, generating more than a thousand comments, ideas and solutions for creating a more connected, useful and beautiful waterfront.
Please join us at the Noguchi Museum for a wine & cheese reception as we release the Waterfront Vision Plan for Astoria & Long Island City, Queens.
This is a FREE event and ALL are welcome.

After a day full of activity (see full schedule below)  celebrate and relax in Queensbridge Park with music, food & fun from 3-5pm! (Sponsored by Green Shores NYC and the Friends of Queensbridge Park Committee).
Queensbridge Park is located on Vernon Blvd & 41st Avenue.
11AM-1PM:  Bike swap, helmet giveaway & safety instructions at Hallets Cove Playground on Vernon Blvd & 30th Avenue
NOON:  Bike Parade REGISTRATION begins at Socrates Sculpture Park (Vernon Blvd & Broadway)
NOON-3PM:  Decorate your bike with Socrates Sculpture Park Artists and Bike Safety Check with Recycle-A-Bicycle, Riding Tips with Transportation Alternatives
3PM:  Line up with Free Style Arts Association and join the parade from Socrates Sculpture Park to Queensbridge Park!
3-5PM:  PARADE FINISH LINE & REST STOP at Queensbridge Park hosted by Green Shores NYC & Friends of Queensbridge Park Committee with Transportation Alternatives Queens Committee

Saturday, May 14th is the National Arab American Day of Service and we are going to be sprucing up the shoreline and green spaces in Astoria Park.
